Over the course of 2017, the Informing Families Project - which was developed by the National Federation of Voluntary Bodies - is being supported by the HSE in rolling out an implementation strategy for the National Best Practice Guidelines for Informing Families of their Child’s Disability.

The international use of the materials of the Informing Families Project, and its evidence-based learning on how to communicate with and support families when their child has been diagnosed with a disability, continues to grow. The materials have been used in 32 hospitals in Bulgaria.

The HSE are currently carrying out a review of children and young people's disability services. A bulletin describing the work of this review has been issued. Parents are invited to put their names forward as representatives on local implementation groups.
