Approximately 150 student nurses from University College Cork received training in the Best Practice Guidelines for Informing Families of their Child's Disability today, delivered by parent and Chairperson of the Informing Families Project in Cork, Katherine O'Leary.
The nursing students are part of the general nursing, children's nursing and intellectual disability nursing disciplines in UCC. This is the third consecutive year that training has been delivered to nursing students in UCC in best practice for communicating the news of a child's disability, and provides continuity with the developments of the Cork Pilot Implementation Project of the Informing Families Guidelines.
