One of the key aspects good practice when providing the diagnosis of a child's disability is to ensure that the family are informed of support groups and information that are available to them.
The Informing Families Project in Cork brought together a group of parents and asked them about the support groups and information that they had found helpful when they received their child's diagnosis. We also asked professionals about the information they find useful when supporting parents of children with disabilities. We have listed these groups at the link below, and this list will continue to grow over time.
Check out the list to see if there are groups that would be useful for the families that you communicate with. You can print off the information or provide the link directly to parents to access these organisations.
